DESIGN & CONSULTANCY
We have expertise in various design activities, including:
-
Creative and innovative concept design
-
Well-optimized basic design that adheres to regulations and client requirements
-
Effective integration and coordination of detailed design
At EGNA Marine, our design, consultancy, and technical support services cover the entire lifespan of vessels and offshore structures. We begin with conceptual design and continue through construction, maintenance, and conversion. Our team offers all the necessary skills in naval architecture and marine engineering to successfully handle even the most complex marine projects.
We work closely with our clients, following a staged approach that aims to reduce risks and costs for all involved parties.
CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT
We kick off every refit or conversion project by delving into the Concept Design phase. During this stage, we brainstorm ideas aligned with the client's objective of extending the vessel's lifespan. This could involve altering its operational scope, making changes to vessel specifications, or repurposing specific areas. Throughout this creative process, we are highly conscious of the client's needs and financial constraints. Leveraging our extensive experience and a rich history of refit and conversion projects, we gradually refine a range of concepts, effectively bringing the project to life.
TENDER DESIGN
Once the Concept Design has been chosen, we advance to the Tender/Contract Design phase. In this stage, the client (whether it's a shipyard or owner) commissions us to refine the concept to a level where the shipyard can accurately determine the project's cost and present a firm price to the owner for negotiation. Throughout this phase, and before the owner finalizes the contract, we also offer additional services, such as:
-
Assisting in contract negotiations
-
Conducting planning and cost assessments
-
Providing support for purchasing and procurement
-
Assessing shipyards
-
Evaluating and selecting suppliers
-
Reviewing third-party designs, specifications, and contracts
BASIC ENGINEERING
At this juncture, the design is fine-tuned to meet the specifications of both the client and the applicable regulatory authorities. This optimization guarantees that the design aligns with the requirements of the designated Classification Society and Flag State.
Furthermore, our capabilities and resources empower us to provide the following services during this phase:
-
Plan approvals
-
Project and contract management
-
Conducting sea trials and overseeing the delivery
-
Acting as the owner's representative for site supervision and inspection
-
Providing site supervision and technical support on behalf of the shipyard
DETAIL ENGINEERING
After finalizing the primary construction plan for the Class-approval package, the detailed design phase can commence. The engineering team then transforms the comprehensive construction plan into an 'as-built' package, which includes all the production details and cutting files required by the shipyard.
3D LAZER SCANNING
Laser scanning plays a crucial role in retrofitting projects. Its rapid ability to generate precise 3D imagery in the form of Point Clouds has significantly reduced the time required for measurements within the confined spaces of a vessel, while enhancing accuracy to as fine as two millimeters or less. Moreover, it can be employed on the exterior of the vessel to assess shell side quality or inspect individual block sections before welding them together.
An additional advantage is its user-friendliness. However, it necessitates the discerning eye of an experienced engineer to identify the specific locations within a space where scanning is necessary in order to create a comprehensive and highly detailed 3D image.
